In 2008 I discovered the overhead projector as a means of drawing with shadow. I was inspired by work by several artists, including my sister Eva Eland, but it took some time to find out how this material fit with what I was making.
At the time I was working on large scale drawings and got a bit frustrated with the process. Collecting different materials, painting and scratching plastic, cutting out shapes and figures and then building an image with that was a relief. It gave me the freedom to play and discover by doing.
To record and keep the shadow drawings I took photographs and made animations. Two works in this series have been selected and were presented at Gemeentemuseum Den Haag during ZomerExpo.
